About Fulton, New York

Fulton County is located in the central part of the state and is part of the Mohawk Valley region. The county is named after Robert Fulton, the inventor of the steamboat, and has a population of approximately 53,000 people. Its county seat is the city of Johnstown.

The county was officially established in 1838, from portions of Montgomery County.

Fulton County is known for its scenic beauty, with the Adirondack Mountains to the north and the Mohawk Valley to the south. Major employers in the area include Nathan Littauer Hospital, Walmart, and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

In terms of education, Fulton County is home to several school districts, including the Greater Johnstown School District, the Gloversville Enlarged School District, and the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District. The county is also home to Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
